Same coconut milk, now with a new EU label "La Maison Du Coco" and Fair Trade Certified. It has taken many years to find a good coconut milk to sell here at Coconutty. We were looking for a milk without fillers or added sugars, with a good consistency and a delicious taste (not that we're choosy or anything). So here's the result. La Maison Organic Coconut Milk is a rich, sweet, milky white liquid derived from the meat of fresh coconuts.
The reason it tastes so good is that it's squeezed from fresh kernels of coconut. The fatty acid profile is 15% (enough to give it a nice creamyness) and the principal fatty acid is lauric acid, which is the same fat found in virgin coconut oil. If you use coconut milk to make smoothies, cocktails, desserts, soups, sauces, thai dishes etc., this could just take them to a whole new level.
How is the superior taste achieved?
La Maison coconut milk uses freshly harvested coconuts rather than dried coconuts, resulting in a sweeter perception and more vibrant taste. The individual cans are filled and sealed at source.
Is it organic?
Yes. The coconuts come from coconut agro-forestry in the Philippines which is certified annually to USDA and EU organic standards. The organic certification covers the entire operation from growing to harvesting to packing.
Are there any additives/preservatives/fillers?
Less than 0.5% plant sourced guar gum for consistency. There is nothing else added.
How much coconut does coconut milk and coconut cream contain?
It takes about two fresh squeezed coconuts to make one can of our coconut milk and about three coconuts to make a can of our coconut cream.
Is it a good source of coconut oil including medium chain fatty acids?
Yes, our coconut milk has a fat content of 15%. Therefore one 400 ml can = 4 dessert spoons of coconut oil. As the milk is not refined in any way, the good fats are from their natural source.
